            Debriefing took hours.

Scarlett had never been so bored in all her life. There had been a point where she’d worked a desk job and she’d thought that had been mind numbing. This was worse.

Paperwork to answer pointless, stupid questions had to be filled out in multiple forms. Waivers upon waivers had to be signed so that they wouldn’t sue after the incident. Secrecy agreements about what had actually happened in Central Park followed. Working for S.H.I.E.L.D. was a real pain in the ass. Scarlett was pretty sure she was over it by the time she walked out of the situation room. She had recounted her version of events at least thirteen different times to ten different people. By the end of it all Scarlett had begun to sneak in mistakes just to see if anyone was really paying attention.

            Spoiler alert: they were not.

Checking her phone, Scarlett winced at the time. It was just after one in the morning. Briefly she’d gotten to speak with Tony before she’d been whisked off to be babbled to by everyone and their second cousin at S.H.I.E.L.D. Her guess was that he hadn’t waited for her and had already gone home. The poor guy had barely gotten any sleep in the last few months, nonetheless the last few days. While he’d slept the one night for the first time in forever, Scarlett knew that his mind was rather unforgiving and he likely would be awake when she got home. She’d told him it would be okay if he went to sleep but he’d insisted he had plans to make for them.

There was one more thing Scarlett wanted to do before she finally went home.

“Dr. Banner? Are you still here?” Scarlett tapped on the door to the laboratory that he’d been borrowing and saw him cleaning up the equipment on the tables. He had a bandage on his forehead but looked much more himself than he had hours earlier in Central Park. The color had returned to his face but there was something else about him. It was in his eyes. Bruce was thinking about what had happened to Caitlyn. Even the sight of Scarlett had made him self conscious about how to handle it.

“Miss Damien! I was hoping to get to see you before I took my leave.”

“You’re leaving the city?” Scarlett closed the door behind her and then walked toward the table.

“For a little while. Your boyfriend invited me for a visit soon so I think I’ll take him up on it.”

“I’m glad. He needs a friend.” Scarlett hadn’t meant to phrase it quite like that but it didn’t make it any less true. Tony needed someone besides Scarlett to lean on. She didn’t mind being there for him, in fact she loved it, but she knew that maybe with someone else there he wouldn’t be so terrified of losing her. Scarlett loved Tony and would do anything for him but sometimes she worried she wasn’t enough. “How’s your head doing? Looks like you’ve got a nice war wound there.”

“Six stitches but no concussion so I’m grateful.” Bruce smiled proudly. He was more proud of the fact that he hadn’t turned into an evil green monster and tried to kill them all, but he wasn’t about to say that. If Scarlett wasn’t going to ask then he wasn’t going to tell.

“Impressive. You must have a pretty hard head.”

“That’s the first time I’ve ever heard that phrased as a compliment.” Bruce put down his tools and then straightened his glasses. “Don’t take this the wrong way, Miss Damien but to what do I owe the pleasure? It doesn’t seem like you to stop by for a social call.”

“Everyone presumes to know so much about me these days.”

            “Am I wrong?”

“No.” Scarlett frowned and then shook her head. She made sure the door behind her was secure; she didn’t want anyone to see this except for Bruce.

“Then what is…” Bruce stopped short as she took off her jacket. Casually setting aside the beaten leather, Scarlett pulled her curly hair up and out of the way. His smile faded and his face turned an ashen gray.

Scarlett removed the gauze and bandaging from her shoulder but even before she’d done so, Bruce could see that something was terribly wrong. Following her veins down her arm a terrible dark discoloration spread. Placing the gauze carefully into a plastic bag Scarlett would bring with her, she stepped closer cautiously and allowed Bruce to look at the wound. Several stitches had been pulled and it was just as raw as ever.

That couldn’t have been possible! It had time to heal even before it had bothered again during the fight. At the very least it should have been a little bit better. Dumbfounded, Bruce stared at the wound, unsure of what to do. It looked to him like she needed a hospital more than she needed to talk to him. She wasn’t wincing; she wasn’t in pain. Bruce never would have guessed that this was hiding beneath her jacket if he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes. Taking one look at her face then back to her shoulder, he wiped his hand over his mouth, went to speak, and then held his hand again over his mouth in contemplation.

            “You must be miserable.

“I’ve seen better days.” Scarlett considered if this was worse than being tortured, quickly decided it wasn’t and shrugged her good shoulder. “It is… very annoying.”

“Annoying? Your arm is turning different colors.”

            “It’s a little unsettling too I suppose.”

“Do you mind?” Bruce pointed at the wound.

“I didn’t come here to show off, that’s for sure.” Scarlett scoffed and then waved her hand over her shoulder as if to offer it up for examination. Bruce gingerly grabbed her bruised up wrist and lifted her arm every which way to watch her range of motion. Much to his surprise she didn’t express any pain and even looked a little bored as he moved it all around.

“It seems as if it hasn’t impaired your rotation at all.”

“It had earlier but I’ve since gotten it under control.”

“How’s the feeling in it? You seem numb to the pain.”

“No, I just need therapy.” Scarlett shook her head. Bruce was confused for a short moment but then smiled weakly.

            “Are you joking with me?”

“Sorta.” Scarlett looked back down at her shoulder. “To me it looks like an infection is spreading down my arm. It’s not cellulitis. Cellulitis doesn’t discolor, not like this.

“It could be bacterial.” Bruce mused, letting go of her arm and taking a step back. “Can you…?” He nodded toward her other arm and she turned to properly face him and held out her right arm for him to examine.

“If you tell me I have a giant abscess on my arm I’m probably going to puke.”

“I doubt that.” Bruce smiled a little bit. “You have a remarkably high tolerance for pain. I doubt that something even that vile would make you sick to your stomach.”

“See, now you really understand me.” Scarlett smiled a little bit. “No, really. It can’t be that right?”

            “No, it’s not that.”

            “What a relief.”

            “I wouldn’t be relieved.”

“Sarcasm, Dr. Banner.” Scarlett nodded her head and then pulled her arms away from him. “Any idea what this could be?”

“I’ve never seen anything like it. You should see a doctor… immediately.” Bruce winced because he knew it wasn’t what she wanted to hear.

“I’m seeing a doctor right now. I need your help, Dr. Banner.”

“You need someone’s help, that’s for sure.” Bruce shook his head in objection. “Your arm is swollen. There is something going on in there, I’ve never seen that sort of discoloration a wound before. With the age of the wound and the way it was cared for it should be healing. Even with the damage done by that creature today it should be on its way to getting better not getting worse. This is definitely worse.”

“My thoughts exactly.” Scarlett rotated her shoulder and then examined the wound the best she could. “Whatever this is, it’s not normal. Look, this last year or so has been really bizarre for me. That’s coming from a woman who has lived a pretty bizarre life.”

“What would you like me to do, Miss Damien?”

“Can you take a few samples? Test them… for everything. Even for weird shit that you don’t think it could ever be. Heavy metals, medicinal reactions, extinct diseases… anything.” Scarlett couldn’t help but be slightly amused at how taken aback the doctor was.

            “Why me?”

“I don’t trust many people, Dr. Banner. You’re not even on the list. However… Tony trusts you. He just met you and he trusts you… probably more than he trusts me. Believe me, that’s not a shock so don’t think too much into it. Him trusting you? That’s good enough for me. I need this to stay quiet. I need S.H.I.E.L.D. not to think about it. I need Natasha Romanoff to back off about it. I know you’ve dabbled in medicine for the last… however long it was you were on the run. It’s not your major but you’re smart enough to figure it out and think outside the box. Take samples and if you need more just let me know.” Scarlett sat herself on the table.

            “You’re scaring me a little.”

“When you know more then I can probably tell you more. At the risk of sounding like Jinx… I have a bad feeling about this wound. I was stabbed, it shouldn’t be this bad. Even infected it shouldn’t look like this. Something is wrong.” Scarlett admitted that for the first time in years. Even when things were looking their worst she would have been too proud to say she needed help. It wasn’t in her nature. Right now Scarlett needed as much help as she could get and off the books at that. “Are you in? If you can’t handle it Bruce I won’t hold it against you. We’ll both walk away and pretend this conversation never happened.”

“What about S.H.I.E.L.D.? They have eyes and ears everywhere.” Bruce suddenly lowered his voice as though this would make a difference.

“Already way ahead of you. Rerouted camera feeds and looped audio. You’re a pretty quiet guy when no one else is around.”

“Wow.” Bruce exhaled and thought it over. It didn’t take him very long to come to a decision. “I’ll need blood and tissue samples.”

“We’re in a laboratory, do what you need to do, doc.”

“I can give you a painkiller if you like…”

“Just take the sample. Trust me. It’ll be a nice change of pace.” Scarlett nodded and Bruce was instantly apprehensive.

“I don’t know how much I can help you, Miss Damien.” Bruce frowned but went about his business. If she even hinted at discomfort he would stop. It wasn’t like he was very squeamish but if he didn’t have to hurt other people he wouldn’t. Was it odd for a man with his affliction to be so peaceful? Probably. But he was.

“Why do you say that? I wouldn’t have come to you if I didn’t think you’d be any good at this. I mean, it’s just doing simple tests… maybe getting creative with comparisons.”

“Then why don’t you do it?”

“Tony.” Scarlett nodded to confirm Bruce’s suspicions. So much for trying to stay out of their relationship. First Tony and now Scarlett. “He’s already too worried about me as it is. If he knows something’s actually wrong I don’t know what he’ll do. I don’t want him to worry about it if it turns out to be nothing. Besides, right now it could all be complications from the chaos over the past few days for all we know. I mean, I’m sure you know about as much as I do about what trans-dimensional travel do to a wound.”

            “You can say that.”

“I know it’s a pretty big favor to ask of you.” Scarlett sighed heavily and looked away as she felt him pulling at the wound on her arm. For awhile she’d been worried that she couldn’t control the reactions to pain like she had always been able to in the past. Turns out that the reason she was so susceptible had something to do with her mind being so preoccupied with the chaos surrounding her. Once she’d regained control after the portal had collapsed, the pain had continued but she’d finally stopped reacting to it. “If it makes you uncomfortable to keep secrets from Tony, then I get it.”

“No, it’s alright.” Bruce set the samples aside and then turned back to her cautiously. “You need help.”

“Now you’re starting to sound like a shrink.”

            “Not that kind of help.”

“No, you were right the first time.” Scarlett joked and Bruce shook his head. He could see why the two scientists were a couple. They shared a very similar sense of humor.

“I’ve never seen anything like this before but I’ll do what I can.” Bruce assured her. “Can I make a recommendation?”

            “Yeah, of course.”

“Get on some anti-inflammatory drugs for the swelling and an antibiotic just in case.”

            “Sulfur or…?”

“Both if you can handle it.”

            “That sounds like a dare.”

            “It’s not a dare, I’m very serious.”

“Challenge accepted.” Scarlett continued to joke and Bruce heaved a sigh and shook his head in disapproval. “I’ll take care of it. Just… let me know if you find anything, alright?”

“Of course. Another favor. Keep a pain journal.” Bruce was apprehensive. “You do feel pain, right?”

            “Yeah, I feel it.”

“You have absolutely no tell.” Bruce grimaced.

“I’m taking that as a compliment and you can’t convince me it’s not.” Scarlett held up her hand and didn’t explain any further. Bruce was disturbed enough by what he saw. “I’ll keep a pain journal and I’ll send it to you every week. I’m hoping it won’t take this long and the damn thing will just heal already now that I can take it easy for a little while.”

“You will be taking it easy, right?”

“Tony has something planned so that remains to be seen. However, I will not be fighting any demons from other dimensions so I imagine that’s going to help.” Scarlett reassured him. “Would you help me get some stitches in this thing? I can clean it up just fine but stitching is a bit more complex…”

“Happy to help.” Bruce continued to clean up his supplies and prepared to leave S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters while Scarlett moved to the other end of the room and tended to her shoulder the best she could. Every so often her fingers would twitch while she cleaned at the rotting tissue in her shoulder but she did her best not to react. When she was finished, Bruce joined her and stitched up the wound and helped wrap it nice and tight. Scarlett slipped her jacket back on and straightened it.

            “So, we’ll be in touch.”

“Yes, as soon as I have anything for you I’ll call.” Bruce nodded reassuringly. “It was nice working with you.”

“And you, Dr. Banner.” Scarlett exchanged a firm handshake with the doctor. “Thanks again for helping out… and for your discretion.”

“It’s no problem. Doctor patient confidentiality or something, right?”

“Whatever helps you sleep at night, Doc.”

“I could still change my mind.” Bruce chuckled under his breath.

“You won’t.” Scarlett waved at the doctor before walking back into the hall without looking back. She felt bad lying to Tony but they were going to have to accept at some point that there was no such thing as complete honesty between two people. Eventually she’d let him know the truth but not until she knew more about what was going on. Her head spun as she considered how much she still had to sort out with her boyfriend. Was it selfish to want to ignore it and pretend it never happened? Definitely.

“Hey! Hey, Scarlett!” Jinx interrupted her train of thought, standing up behind her desk and waving excitedly. Mickey stood nearby and looked embarrassed by Jinx’s behavior. Several agents walking past had stopped to see what all the commotion was about but had continued on their way when they realized it was nothing exciting.

“Oh, they released you two from your prisons.” Scarlett made her way over to the duo. “Good, I wanted to talk to you.”

“See, I told you that we weren’t bothering her.” Jinx whispered not so discretely. “Mickey said we were bothering you and to leave you alone.”

“Well, you didn’t seem…” Mickey drifted off and then threw Jinx an accusatory glance.

“You’re not bothering me. I really did hope to speak with you both. I figured I’d get in touch with you later since it’s… you know, the middle of the night.” Scarlett leaned against the desk and peered curiously in search of any hilariously titled books. Unfortunately there were none in sight. Scarlett was disappointed.

“You wanted to talk to us? About what?” Jinx batted her eyelashes. She was way too awake for this hour while Mickey looked as exhausted as Scarlett felt.

“I was wondering how complicated your contracts with S.H.I.E.L.D. are.” Scarlett tapped her fingers on the counter.

“In regards to what? Everything S.H.I.E.L.D. does is overly complicated.” Mickey rubbed her temples and then glared at Jinx again when she was handed a cup of tea that had apparently already been rejected multiple times.

“In regards to working other jobs.” Scarlett leaned away from the counter and rested her hand on her hip. “I have a number of new projects I’ll be working on in the very near future. It’s a pretty good business opportunity. It won’t interfere or align with S.H.I.E.L.D. work in any way and it’s probably nowhere near as exciting as Homeland Defense. However, I pay substantially better than this place does. You’ll get some unique opportunities too. Just think about it. I know it’s late and an overwhelming prospect. I can’t do anything about it for the time being anyway.” Scarlett yawned. All the not being able to sleep was really catching up with her.

“You’re offering us jobs?” Mickey sounded skeptical. “Really? Like… working for Stark Industries?”

“Even Tony seems to think I’m going to work with him for some reason, but no. No, I’m starting my own business. More details later guys. No specific title really for you yet. I’ll need help in the laboratory, handling press, calls, manufacturing. Really boring business stuff for now but again, good money.” Scarlett rubbed her fingers together tauntingly. “Just say you’ll think about it. I don’t need an answer right now.”

Jinx and Mickey exchanged glances and turned it over in their minds.

“I’m not sure how much S.H.I.E.L.D. will like us moonlighting with another company…” Mickey seemed cautious.

“Oh, come on.” Scarlett wanted to tell them to live a little but that seemed like it would start a long, drawn out conversation.

“But we’ll think about it.” Jinx smiled contently. “We have to check our contracts to see if that’s even possible. It’ll be easier for me than it will be for Mickey but I think it could be nice. Besides, I could use the extra money. Manhattan is expensive.”

“Tell me about it.” Mickey muttered. She’d been living in New Jersey to save money but the commute cost almost as much as the rent in Manhattan would. Scarlett wondered if she could help the girls out a bit. There was so much space not being utilized in Stark Tower. She didn’t see why they couldn’t rent out a space for them on the cheap. That was up to Tony and for another day. “I’ll speak with Agent Coulson and see what kind of wiggle room we have.”

“What does this expression mean? There is plenty of room here to wiggle.” Thor approached the group with a small wave and the women exchanged glances. “I’m just joking with you; that is an obvious one.” He smiled charmingly and the women laughed a little nervously.

“I thought for sure you’d be on your way back to Asgard by now.” Scarlett changed the subject. Mickey and Jinx were having some kind of weird silent conversation which involved a lot of odd facial expressions.

“Son of Coul had many questions and forms to sign. It has delayed my departure quite a bit.” He bowed his head politely. “I was going to leave but I wanted to say my farewells first. It has been an honor working with you all… my apologies that we couldn’t do more.”

“You were a huge help, Thor.” Scarlett smiled contently.

“Huge, both literally and figuratively.” Jinx nodded enthusiastically much to Mickey’s chagrin.

“It was nothing. I did what I could. I’m sorry again for accusing you of any wrong doing, Lady Scarlett. I will make it up to you someday.”

“Sure wouldn’t mind an Asgard vacation.” Scarlett teased but Thor nodded his head as if to agree. “I wanted to apologize for Tony. I never really got the chance to before. The whole… how to pick up a woman debacle at the restaurant was pretty ridiculous.”

“Ah, the man of iron has a very deep misunderstanding when it comes to women.” Thor looked concerned but for a moment before smiling. “He’s quite lucky to have succeeded in wooing you.”

“Oh, he would argue every syllable in that sentence.” Scarlett laughed but a comfortable silence followed. Jinx seemed to be trying to talk Mickey into doing something but Agent Pierce was repeatedly shaking her head no. “We won’t hold you here any longer. If you’re ever looking for women to pick up, we’ll be here waiting. Or, you know, peril of some kind that you need help with? Give us a call. We’re pretty good problem solvers.”

“I will take you up on that offer. For now I must return to Asgard to continue the search for my brother. At some point he passed through that portal of that I am sure. There was no sign of him here.”

“I hope you find him.” Scarlett nodded.

“We do too. If we see any sign of him we’ll find a way to contact Asgard.” Jinx spoke confidently though Mickey seemed to be wondering just how her friend was planning on contacting another world.

“Good luck.” Mickey added with a small nervous smile. She seemed awfully sad to see him go.

“Asgard is lucky to have allies amongst Midgardians.” Thor bowed again and then held his hand out to shake Scarlett’s. “Until we meet again, Lady Scarlett.”

“Come here, you big lug.” Scarlett rejected his handshake and instead gave him a hug which he returned with a hearty chuckle. “I’ve got to head out of here. I’m exhausted and there’s still three thousand things to do.”

“Yes, I will be on my way. Do not be alarmed by any thunder you hear out in the city, Lady Scarlett.” Thor bowed his head and then turned to Jinx and Mickey. “May I borrow Lady Pierce for a few moments?” Mickey’s face turned a bright red and she stood there unsure of what to say.

“Yes, of course. I’m not using her right now. In fact, she’s in my way.” Jinx gave Mickey a playful shove over the top of her desk and watched her friend stumble. Thor gave her an arm to help steady her footfalls.

“I wanted to say my goodbyes to you in private if I may. You have done much for me since I’ve arrived.”

“It was… really nothing. I was just doing my job.” Mickey began, her mouth hanging open awkwardly.

“She’s just kidding, she’ll go with you.” Jinx narrowed her eyes at her friend who nodded in return. Scarlett and Jinx watched as Thor led Mickey down the hall to presumably say his heartfelt goodbyes. She had, after all, spent a few hours helping him find a way to fit into New York modern culture. Then again, it really had been her job; she’d been assigned the task and had been so flustered the whole time that she’d barely managed to say a word properly.

“So what’s that all about? Are you trying to set Fabio up with Minnie Mouse?” Scarlett tapped her fingers on the desk as she got closer to Jinx.

“I think he’s spoken for or something. Mickey mentioned it while practically breaking my keychain earlier.” Jinx shrugged and spun in her chair. “It sure is fun to watch her get all flustered though.”

“Did you guys just read a book about a strong chivalrous man with abs that don’t quit and long blond hair or something?” Scarlett chuckled.

“Aren’t they all about some guy like that? He makes an appearance in almost every novel. I swear I’ve seen him before though…” Jinx pulled open a drawer next to her and started ruffling through a pile of discarded books, all with equally silly names.

“While you try to remember where you’ve seen him, I’ve got to run.” Scarlett smacked her hand on the desk and turned away.

“Wait! Don’t go yet!” Jinx scrambled out of her seat, leaving the drawer open. She trotted carefully around the desk. Stumbling to a stop in front of Scarlett she held her hands out. “I’ve got something for you.”

            “Huh?”

Jinx held out her petite hand and revealed a small charm bracelet. It was pretty beaten up, some of the beads were missing, and a piece of one of the charms was broken but it was still obvious that whoever it had belonged to had been an artist. Scarlett knew at once where it had come from and felt suddenly subdued. After all was said and done she’d been convinced that she’d managed to remove herself emotionally from the Caitlyn situation.

            She’d been wrong. It hurt.

“Mickey found it while she was doing clean up at the scene. We’re supposed to turn over these things as evidence most of the time.” She turned over the bracelet in her hand and then smiled a little bit. “But evidence winds up trapped eternally in some basement file room. After some discussion we decided not to report she found it.”

“Wow, look at you two breaking all the rules.”

“You’re a bad influence on us, I think. But I like it.” Jinx smiled and placed the bracelet in Scarlett’s hand before she could object. “I think she left it for you in a way. Look at all the cute little artist charms on it. I don’t know who gave it to her or where she got it but maybe it was the last thing she had that reminded her someone loved her once. In the end we all did. You got hit the hardest. Even if you won’t say it.”

“Jinx…” Scarlett was surprised at how insightful the woman who was often a goofball had suddenly become. It made her rethink any judgment she’d had on her abilities. “I don’t know if I want to keep this.”

“Right now you might not want to but you will eventually. Remember what she did, not what she became. Sometimes we all do bad things and make stupid decisions. Sometimes we even become monsters. It doesn’t make us bad or beyond redemption. It makes us human.”

“You’ve been reading too many books.” Scarlett shoved the bracelet in her pocket but kept her fingers wrapped around it. She could feel the little easel that was hanging off of one of the charms, unbroken.

“Guilty.” Jinx smiled and then peered over her shoulder to make sure they weren’t being watched. “So when can I come by to hear more about this job opportunity? I can’t wait to find out what you’re dipping your feet into now.”

“I’ll have to check my calendar but I’ll get back to you on that.”

“I feel like I’m part of some spy novel!”

“You… already are.” Scarlett laughed. Jinx worked for S.H.I.E.L.D., how could she get more of a spy vibe to her life? Apparently Scarlett was going to offer them the excitement they wanted. Too bad they’d be disappointed to find out it was secretarial crap she wanted done but didn’t have the patience for.

“I can’t wait to work with you, no matter what it is. I know Mickey’s looking forward to it too. Don’t… tell her I said it but I think that maybe she’s hoping you’ll break her out of her shell a little bit.”

“Or she’s quietly plotting revenge since I’m the reason her fiancé died.” Scarlett still felt guilty about the incident at the charity fundraiser that had caused so much property damage, left one dead, and had battered many. If MedCo hadn’t been after her, none of it would have happened. Then again, she never would have met Tony or anyone else from S.H.I.E.L.D. She didn’t think she would wind up working there very long, but the company wasn’t bad.

“Mickey’s not very vengeful. And she doesn’t think it’s your fault either.” Jinx waved off the very notion of it. “Not all of us are thinking about vengeance.”

“That must be nice.” Scarlett cleared her throat then continued. “Tony said something about some trip or plan he made. I don’t know what it was. To be honest I was only half paying attention when he mentioned it. Once I know what he’s got up his sleeve I can better judge when I’ll have time to meet up with you two. We’ll negotiate contracts from there… I might have another opportunity for you two in the near future that’s a bit more exciting.” Scarlett wanted to throw the idea of renting out affordable housing to their teammates in the city but wasn’t going to make any promises quite yet.

“Oh, a vacation! Any idea where you’ll be going?”

“I didn’t say any of those words. And I didn’t catch any details.” Scarlett laughed and then nudged her shoulder. “Go finish up and get some sleep. I swear, you’ve been awake since I met you.”

“No, I nap at my desk a lot.” Jinx nodded and then offered a hand to shake. “I know you have boundary issues or something so… I’ll see you soon.”

“Fine, you can hug me.” Scarlett sighed and before she could make a move to do so, Jinx hugged her tight.

“Oh thank god, I’ve been holding that back for ages!” Jinx laughed and then pulled back with a smile. “I’ll see you soon.”

“See you.” Scarlett turned and began walking away and shoved her hands back into her pockets. Her fingers wrapped around the bracelet that Jinx and Mickey had given to her but then around something else. She stopped walking and pulled out a small jade stone. The Japanese symbol for luck was carved within it. Scarlett rolled her eyes.

Some things would never change. It seemed she was stuck with Jinx for awhile.

            Scarlett was okay with that.

Hey everyone, continuing along with the wrap up. One more chapter and I'm really looking forward to it being posted! On that note, I will also begin the posting of Iron Clad: Echoes... This story is NOT a sequel to Across the Universe but rather takes place in an alternate timeline, posting the question of... what would happen if Scarlett had never worked for MedCo in Africa and had discovered Scott's treachery beforehand? So this story will take place AFTER the events in The Avengers MCU but before Iron Man 3. I will likely not move any further forward in the timeline than this. This story will not have a sequel, it is complete in and of itself. I hope that everyone enjoys it. That being said, I will NOT be abandoning this timeline. The fourth story in this series is called "In the Blood" and will have much chaos to be had. Everyone starts to get to a little bit more of their normal selves, particularly Tony and Scarlett. They find their groove, finally. I hope that everyone's March has been well, and much better than mine. Much love.

First: Chapter One: Tomorrow Never Knows
Previous: Chapter Forty Seven: Her Majesty
